My work as a coach stems from two core principles.
First: focused attention on our lives makes them better.
Looking directly at our problems, our behaviors, our abilities, our relationships, opens them up to change and growth.
And, doing this with another person is not only often more effective: sometimes it's necessary.
Working with another person not only brings in a different perspective, sometimes simply telling someone what we think, feel, have experienced, or hope for, brings clarity, understanding, and resolution.
Second: there is no split between mind and body.
We feel, perceive, act, and communicate through our bodies.
How we are in our bodies, is how we are in our lives.
Being more in touch with our bodies energizes and informs us.
Our bodies are where skill, strength, courage, and joy live.
The distinction usually made between coaching and therapy is that coaching is future and goal oriented, while therapy is more focused on personal history and healing.
But there is no clear line between the two.
While my work as a coach is about how you would like your life to unfold, moving ahead often means resolving how past experiences have shaped us.
Working with me is about bringing more awareness to underlying feelings,
as you experience them now.
Exploring the beliefs (many unconscious) you hold about yourself and the world,
and how they impact your current choices.
And becoming more embodied and connected to your core self so that you are in touch with your inner strength, intuition, courage, and creativity.
My work is halfway between a personal development coach and a therapist.
